    Building a Joyful, Resilient and Positive Workplace
    Working in a correctional environment requires professionalism, resilience and teamwork every day. This retreat provides an opportunity to step away from daily operational demands, reconnect with colleagues, celebrate team strengths and co-create practical ways to build a more joyful, resilient and supportive workplace. Through experiential learning, reflection and collaborative activities, participants will strengthen relationships, enhance communication and leave with practical ideas that can be implemented immediately.
    Objective
    • Understand the importance of resilience and positivity in the workplace.
    • Build stronger workplace relationships through empathy, appreciation and mindful communication.
    • Commit to simple daily practices that promote team growth.
    • Apply practical strategies to foster a happier and more supportive workplace culture.
    • Generate meaningful ideas that make the workplace more joyful and engaging.
    Outline
    Module 1 – Reconnecting with Purpose: The Power of Joy and Positivity at Work
    • Purpose: Establish a positive foundation and reconnect participants with the impact they have on workplace culture.
    • Learning Outcomes: Understand resilience, identify personal energy sources and recognise the ripple effect of positive behaviours.
    • Key Topics: Joy, resilience, Circle of Control, emotional contagion, energy management.
    • Activities: The Best Team I've Ever Worked With, Energy Audit, and Resilience Backpack.
    • Workplace Application: Develop three personal resilience habits.


    Module 2 – Building Stronger Workplace Relationships Through 5 Ways of Appreciation
    • Purpose: Strengthen trust and psychological safety through meaningful appreciation.
    • Learning Outcomes: Recognise different appreciation preferences and build stronger relationships.
    • Key Topics: Five Languages of Appreciation at Work, recognition, empathy, trust.
    • Activities: Appreciation Profile, Appreciation Bingo and Partner Interview.
    • Workplace Application: Identify five simple appreciation habits for the team.


    Module 3 – Communicating with Empathy and Understanding
    • Purpose: Reduce misunderstandings through better communication.
    • Learning Outcomes: Improve listening, empathy and awareness of communication barriers.
    • Key Topics: Perception, deletion, assumptions, listening levels, mindful communication.
    • Activities: Perception illusion, Paper Folding exercise, Listening Challenge, CRAFT communication model.
    • Workplace Application: Communication commitments for shift handovers, meetings and feedback.


    Module 4 – Creating a Joyful and Engaging Workplace and Turning Ideas into Action
    • Purpose: Generate practical solutions that strengthen workplace culture and team engagement.
    • Learning Outcomes: Co-design realistic initiatives that increase morale, collaboration and ownership.
    • Key Topics: Recognition, belonging, collaboration, psychological safety, continuous improvement.
    • Activities: Culture Design Lab, and Team Action Canvas.
    • Workplace Application: Prioritise one quick win and one team initiative for implementation.


    Module 5 – Action Plan
    • Purpose: Translate learning into sustainable behavioural change.
    • Learning Outcomes: Commit to practical actions and support colleagues through accountability.
    • Key Topics: Habit formation, accountability, peer coaching.
    • Activities: Peer Coaching, 30-Day Action Plan, and Ripple Effect appreciation activity.
    • Workplace Application: Personal, team and organisational commitments.


    Overall, the five modules create the following journey:
    1. Reconnect with yourself – purpose, resilience and positive energy.
    2. Reconnect with others – appreciation and trust.
    3. Communicate more effectively – empathy, listening and clarity.
    4. Shape the culture together – practical ideas for a better workplace.
    5. Make it stick – commitments, accountability and sustained action.
    Methodology
    This programme is designed to be high-energy, engaging and experiential, combining interactive activities, meaningful conversations, reflection and workplace application. Participants will experience insightful “a-ha” moments, genuine connection and shared laughter while exploring practical strategies that can be immediately applied in the correctional environment. Every activity is designed to build confidence, strengthen relationships and equip participants with realistic actions that create a more positive, resilient and collaborative workplace.

    Over 25 years of working in Asia and Europe, Celina Gan has accumulated a vast experience and know-how in working and training participants from different cultures and work backgrounds. Celina conducts workshops in Asia, Qatar and the UK to MNCs, the civil service, IT, educational, shipping, health and airline companies.

    Celina was previously a UK Trademark Attorney, Legal Consultant, Head of Copyright and Advisory; Manager of Global Legal Accounts; and Contracts & Commercial Advisor in the UK, Spain, Malaysia and Singapore. In 2012, Celina moved into full time training, being ACTA qualified; and a certified “Colored Brain Communication” trainer; certified Human Motivation and certified Mastery in Dynamic Speaking, both accredited by the American Institute of Business Psychology. She is also certified as a coach and mentor accredited by the International Coaching Federation; certified in Neuro Semantics and Neuro Linguistic Programming; and a Body Language Coach.

    Her substantive work, consulting and training experience with the above industries have deepened her understanding of the many challenges faced by different entities, leaders and individuals in an ever changing environment. Celina is therefore able to bring to her clients, realistic and workable practices and options to achieve desired goals and objectives.

    Celina is very passionate about training. Her style of training engages participants in practical sessions with personable examples, humour and hands-on activities for instant understanding and applicability.
